Grab a Hat and Talk Derby To Me at The Rustic

DALLAS (April 30, 2019) – Can’t make it to Churchill Downs? No problem. The Rustic, Angry Orchard and ALT 103.7 are bringing the races to Uptown.

The Rustic invites Kentucky Derby fans – as well as connoisseurs of high fashion, great food and craft cocktails – to join the race-day fun for Talk Derby to Me hosted by Sybil Summers of 103.7 on Saturday, May 4.

Dress to impress in your finest Derby attire for a chance to win great prizes in three Best Dressed contests, judged by local celebrities. Contestants must be at The Rustic by 4 p.m. to enter the contest. Categories include:

Best Dressed Couple: $100 in gift cards for each contestant (includes a mix of gift cards from all three Dallas-area FreeRange Concepts locations: The Rustic, Mutts Canine Cantina and Bowl & Barrel)Best Dressed Male: $100 in FreeRange gift cardsBest Dressed Female: $100 in FreeRange gift cards

Enjoy the races with other Derby fans while you sip on Angry Orchard’s crisp Rosé Cider or the best Mint Juleps in town, made with Woodford Reserve Bourbon, lemon mint and a dash of Ysabel Regina Brandy served over crushed ice. Then, indulge in a Kentucky Hot Brown sandwich created specifically for the party using smoked turkey and bacon, fresh tomato, mornay and cotija served on butter-grilled Texas toast. You’ll feel like you’re in Kentucky, minus the crazy crowds and the fragrant aroma of the horse paddocks.

Flower boutique Petal Pushers will be on-site with their pink VW van for photo ops to show off your derby style and Bam Beauty Bar will also be there to save the day with lipstick touchups.

Come early and stay late to enjoy live music from local artists. Barbershop quartet Dixeland Band will take the stage pre-race and songwriter Jackie Castro will debut her solo career post-race.

For more information, and to RSVP, visit the Facebook event page.

For those getting out of the starting gate early to watch the first races, The Rustic will be serving its Jam & Toast Brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The kitchen’s full menu will be available from 3 p.m. to close.

With its casual atmosphere, live musical acts and unique, full-service dining experience featuring farm-fresh, homestyle dishes and a Texas-sized selection of wines, spirits and 40 beers on tap, The Rustic has carved a distinctive niche among Dallas, San Antonio and Houston restaurants. The concept is the brainchild of Noonan, Josh Sepkowitz and Texas country artist Pat Green, whose love of the outdoors and live music helped bring The Rustic to life. The result is a fun and relaxing dining and concert experience from a phenomenal patio, all under the big Texas sky.

The Rustic is located at 3656 Howell Street in Dallas.
